Is radon testing CRA eligible in Canada?

No. Radon testing is explicitly listed as not eligible under the Medical Expense Tax Credit (METC) and cannot be claimed through a Health Spending Account (HSA).

The CRA treats radon testing as a home safety or environmental service rather than a medical expense. Even though radon exposure is a recognized health risk, the cost of testing for it does not qualify as a medical expense under the Income Tax Act.

What Does Not Qualify

  • Radon test kits purchased for home safety monitoring
  • Professional radon inspection or measurement services
  • Radon mitigation system installation
